The RFK Master Plan is an opportunity to reimagine the campus as a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood. The plan will establish new land use, zoning, and design standards to guide future development. It will also identify opportunities for new recreational areas and facilities, housing, businesses, and improved connections to the waterfront.  In March 2026, the District held two in-person Open Houses as part of the master planning process to explore themes on new building uses, park design, programming, accessibility and connectivity, and community amenities. This survey includes information and questions shared at those workshops for those unable to attend the in-person events or want to share more input. Please allow at least 30 minutes to complete this survey. It will remain open from March 31st, 2026 – April 12th, 2026. About the Project The Rhode Island Avenue Planning Study focuses on a portion of the corridor between 13th Street NE and Eastern Avenue NE. The study explores the corridor's land use and market potential and examines opportunities for public realm improvements and strategies that better meet community needs and catalyze future investments.

From Minnesota Avenue to Division Avenue NE, WE NEED YOUR INPUT!  The DC Office of Planning (OP) is working to develop a Small Area Plan (SAP) for the Nannie Helen Burroughs Corridor (NHBCSAP). SAPs supplement the Comprehensive Plan by providing detailed direction for specific geographic areas to manage growth, promote revitalization, or achieve other long-range planning goals. SAPs are developed through a collaborative public process that provides opportunities for community input on priorities in the planning area. SAPs are approved by a resolution from the DC Council, and their key recommendations may be incorporated into the Comprehensive Plan in the future. The NHBCSAP will become a guide for the development of neighborhood-serving mixed uses including retail, housing, enhanced green spaces, and public space activation along the corridor. This existing conditions report shares information on community characteristics, demographic trends, and land use conditions. The Nannie Helen Burroughs Corridor Study focuses on the commercial main street which is highlighted in pink on the map on the next page. The data gathered in this report provides a foundation for a deeper analysis of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE. It begins to tell the story of a historic community east of the Anacostia River, connected by a once-thriving commercial corridor that serves several distinct neighborhoods. Data and community input from this report will inform the future Small Area Plan  

The Alabama Avenue SE Corridor Safety Improvements Project provides an opportunity to conduct a thorough assessment of all traffic and safety concerns for all transportation modes along Alabama Avenue SE. The project study area extends from Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE to Bowen Road SE/Ridge Road SE. The Alabama Avenue corridor was studied in 2017 and draft recommendations were developed. DDOT has implemented a number of improvements since the completion of the original study. DDOT will conduct community engagement throughout the project development process. 

PROJECT OVERVIEW The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is exploring methods to bridge the gaps between neighborhoods divided by transportation infrastructure along the Route 295 Corridor. This initiative aims to lay the groundwork for upcoming construction endeavors aimed at easing the challenges posed by the Corridor. These efforts include enhancing safety and accessibility, facilitating various transportation modes for daily commuting needs, and integrating recreational and park areas into the community fabric.
